Last updated: 25 October 2026 · Editor: Sadık Kükrer, MD

  • The definition is based on an international Delphi consensus (Gordijn 2016).
  • ISUOG 2020: if UA-PI is >95th percentile or estimated fetal weight is <3rd percentile, delivery at 36+0–37+6 weeks; with cerebral redistribution, at 38+0–39+0 weeks.
  • ISUOG 2020: reversed end-diastolic flow at 32+0–33+6 weeks (may be considered after 30+0); absent end-diastolic flow at 34+0 weeks (may be considered after 32+0).
  • SMFM #52 uses different thresholds: absent end-diastolic velocity at 33–34 weeks, reversed at 30–32 weeks. Society recommendations are not mixed.
  • TRUFFLE: the difference in the primary outcome between groups was not significant (p for trend = 0.09).
